Indeed. I've come to learn that they're really far more different than I first thought. In fact, Kimblee's more similar to me than he is to the version we know.

Yes, you mentioned as much. I still find it odd that there are people with the same name, yet they're nothing alike. Colonel Mustang is the same; the one I met here was from Kimblee's world, not our own.

It's something that's become an interest of mine. If only I had been here when they were all around.

[Not that Mustang would have done anything for him at all but you know. He'd be bothering someone new.]

Envy told me that Lust from the other world was here at one point. What was she like? If you met here, I mean.

Oh yes, I met her. She was a marvelous woman. Enigmatic and a bit hard to pin down, but interesting to talk to and quick-witted. We only had a few conversations, but she was quite fascinating. Kimblee liked her quite a bit as well, as I recall.

I haven't met the Lust from our world yet, but I suppose I'll have to talk to her at some point.

[Greed thankfully manages to stop himself from laughing. Barely.

I only ever met the Lust from our world very briefly and not in the greatest of circumstances. I've spoken to her here a few times, however. I'll give you that she's interesting to talk to.

[Though for entirely different reasons.]

Oh? Were you not on good terms with her?

She was born long after I was sealed so my first and only meeting with her was in a safe house where I lost two of the three remaining survivors of my group. They may have been stronger than normal humans, but I can assure you it wasn't a long fight. I would have had trouble fighting her and Gluttony at the same time.

[Though his tone indicates that he doesn't exactly blame Lust for it.]

Ah, I see. So she serves your master. I suppose I'll have to be careful around her.

[Not that she can really do anything here, but he's not taking any chances.]

She used to work for my master. I actually told Kimblee this the other day, that I think, if you look at our worlds as two experiments, the one we come from is what happens when the Homunculi have personal goals that outweigh that of the master.

[The end result is apparently akin to throwing a wrench into a jet turbine.]

Really? How fascinating. What sort of personal goals did the others have? Yours are fairly obvious, I would imagine.

Homunculi have a tendency to seek out what is missing. You look for something that's familiar to fill that void. You have to find that thing that is gone, that's just out of grasp.

Well, you're Greed, so it only seems natural that you'd want everything you could get your hands on, be it physical or otherwise. Money, power, people... While I don't believe you treated your chimeras as pawns or anything of the sort, being surrounded by people was probably something you sought, correct?

You're correct. Companionship is something I value rather highly. Wealth and status are also something I desire, but I'd say people are the more important category.

Imagine you woke up tomorrow and remembered nothing save for a single memory of Kimbley. You don't know who you are, where you are, or even what that memory means but that becomes the mystery that consumes you. You have to seek out the answer and you can't ever stop. You won't allow yourself to.

...Is that what it was like when you came into being? You had a fragment of a memory from the human you were supposed to be...?

[He ponders that in silence for a moment.]

Bits and pieces. Even now, I couldn't tell you who I was before. Everything is vague and out of context.

[He'd say he's content with what he is at this point, but that would be an outright lie and he's aware of that enough he wouldn't be able to deny it.]

I certainly didn't hear anything like that from Lust and Kimblee's never mentioned anything like that. He worked fairly close with several of the Homunculi and if there was something like that going on, he would most likely know.

Again, the differences between worlds are completely confusing.

I know what the Homunculi are in that world. The process hasn't been explained to me but I get the gist of it. They're decidedly not the same. Your description of Lust was, ah, proof enough of that.

In a word, no.

There are people who fill the same roles, but I'm trying to find a major person who stays consistent. I don't know Elric well enough to say if he and his brother are the ones but they may very well be.
