She used to work for my master. I actually told Kimblee this the other day, that I think, if you look at our worlds as two experiments, the one we come from is what happens when the Homunculi have personal goals that outweigh that of the master.

[The end result is apparently akin to throwing a wrench into a jet turbine.]

Really? How fascinating. What sort of personal goals did the others have? Yours are fairly obvious, I would imagine.

Homunculi have a tendency to seek out what is missing. You look for something that's familiar to fill that void. You have to find that thing that is gone, that's just out of grasp.

Well, you're Greed, so it only seems natural that you'd want everything you could get your hands on, be it physical or otherwise. Money, power, people... While I don't believe you treated your chimeras as pawns or anything of the sort, being surrounded by people was probably something you sought, correct?

You're correct. Companionship is something I value rather highly. Wealth and status are also something I desire, but I'd say people are the more important category.

But that's not all there is to me, yeah? I'm not a sin.

Imagine you woke up tomorrow and remembered nothing save for a single memory of Kimbley. You don't know who you are, where you are, or even what that memory means but that becomes the mystery that consumes you. You have to seek out the answer and you can't ever stop. You won't allow yourself to.

...Is that what it was like when you came into being? You had a fragment of a memory from the human you were supposed to be...?

[He ponders that in silence for a moment.]

Bits and pieces. Even now, I couldn't tell you who I was before. Everything is vague and out of context.

[He'd say he's content with what he is at this point, but that would be an outright lie and he's aware of that enough he wouldn't be able to deny it.]

[Greed shrugs.]

...Our world is dramatically different from the other one, it's safe to say.

I certainly didn't hear anything like that from Lust and Kimblee's never mentioned anything like that. He worked fairly close with several of the Homunculi and if there was something like that going on, he would most likely know.

Again, the differences between worlds are completely confusing.

I know what the Homunculi are in that world. The process hasn't been explained to me but I get the gist of it. They're decidedly not the same. Your description of Lust was, ah, proof enough of that.

In a word, no.

There are people who fill the same roles, but I'm trying to find a major person who stays consistent. I don't know Elric well enough to say if he and his brother are the ones but they may very well be.

I doubt that. They went through different situations and that changes people. I'm sure something about them is different, but I haven't interacted with the ones that were here very closely, so I couldn't tell you.

[Somehow, Ed and the other Greed had become friends which is something that he absolutely can't understand, but maybe he's looking at it the wrong way.]

I'm sure. The events in our worlds don't easily line up.

I'm not in the business of calling anyone "master" anymore, but if you ever need an extra set of hands I'm still stronger than the average person around here even without my powers.

You might want to look into getting some Psychic-type Pokémon, then. It takes quite a bit of training to get them to work exactly as I like. I've found the Ralts line to be effective, as well as the Beldum line and of course, the Abra line.

[Just don't get a Munna, Greed. Spare yourself.]

I certainly won't turn down more willing hands, especially those who enjoy the work.

Alekhine was one of my first Pokémon. You could say I've been fond of Psychic-types for quite some time, yes.

I would enjoy that, though I'll insist we keep the conversation in more, ah, private quarters. There's no sense in letting everyone know all about my research.
