[Archer's still not following, unfortunately.]

[That's met with a blank stare.

Surely Archer picked up on why Greed sought him out in particular?

...he could go for the subtle approach or he could be blunt.]

Bit hard to babysit a kid who spends most of his time in some big building.

[Not sure which attempt this is! Sorry, Archer.]

[It's obvious that Archer isn't following, given the blank expression he's wearing.]

[Then suddenly everything clicks into place. To his credit, Archer doesn't look completely shocked at this, but he does look a bit taken aback.]

You know that he's a part of...?

[He doesn't finish that thought because there are people around.]

[And here's where Greed could be a huge asshole, but instead he nods, giving a friendly smile despite the circumstances.]

No point standing out in the cold. Come on.

[So he leads Archer inside, requesting they be taken to one of the tables in the back. Naturally Greed flashes the hostess a flirty smile as she seats them, sliding down into his seat easily.]

[Archer could leave, but honestly this is something he needs to talk to Greed about. If Greed thinks Archer's being uncooperative, he could easily turn Archer over to the police, or worse, let the entire network know of Archer's involvement in Team Rocket. This isn't something he needs to deal with right now.

He takes a seat across from the Homunculus and folds his hands on the table. He doesn't speak, waiting for Greed to get to the point.]

[Archer, Greed has said more than once that he considers you a friend, why would he turn you over to the police?]

You don't have to look so serious, you know.

[He leans in close, says quietly:]

It's not like you're the only person I know about.

[He's not used to people being so... nice.]

Oh? Who else do you know about?

[He keeps his voice down, but his expression doesn't change any. He's not letting his guard down until he knows for sure that he's safe.]

[He gestures vaguely with his left hand. When Greed continues talking, his voice is still low.]

Kimblee, and that man who always shouts his plans to the entire network. Cobra, I think his name is?

[...but Kimblee's the important name here because Greed sure as hell wouldn't do anything to backstab Kimblee.]

[Archer says nothing. That response alone is probably telling, but he can't think of anything to say. There's no denying that both Kimblee and Cobra are part of Team Rocket, but he's not sure how Greed knows.]

...Where did you get this information?

[Well, he knows that he slipped up and Greed figured him out, but Kimblee's the one he's concerned with. Cobra has probably announced his affiliation to the network at large by now.]

I don't think Kimblee intended to say anything about himself but I put the pieces together.

[Ev...entually. It took him a few more months than it should have.]

[Greed's known about Kimblee's involvement for a long time if Kimblee told him when he first arrived. Nothing's come of that, so Archer relaxes a little. Things will (probably) be fine.]

I was rather hoping you could tell me the policy on outsiders joining, actually.

You want to join us?

[Well that's something he obviously hadn't considered. Archer recovers after a moment though.]

I don't believe we've had an outsider join before. I can't recall anything like that happening during the last three years, at least.

[But that certainly is an interesting thought, isn't it?]

[This is Mr. Solves Problems by Punching Things. Yes, he wants to join.]

Would it be possible to find out the answer? There's no rush of course, but I'm quite serious.

I can talk to the people in charge about it. I doubt they'd say no to someone joining the team with experience here and a powerful team of Pokémon.

[He's been here for nearly almost an entire year, after all.]

I suppose I should ask why you're so interested in joining in the first place.

[Though judging from that smirk, he's already got a pretty good idea.]

[It sounds like he's joking though.]

[...okay he'll be annoyed if it takes several months but for now? Greed has set out and accomplished what he wanted to do so he's not concerned.

He reaches out to offer Archer his hand.]

It'll be a pleasure working with you.

Indeed, it will be. We'll be able to work much closer than I had ever hoped.

[Hahaha.

At least this way, Archer will be able to keep a close eye on Greed. And realize he's actually pretty good at working in a group.]
