[The video feed turns on to what might be a familiar face to some Johto residents. Frank Archer is sitting in a nondescript room at an equally nondescript desk, hands folded. He's wearing the usual blue military uniform and the usual smirk.]

Good afternoon. I have a quick question for you all. Have you ever had a Pokémon return to you after losing it or releasing it?

[Judging from the Alakazam rolling his eyes in the corner, it's obvious what Archer's getting at.]

Johto felt the need to send me home for some reason. On my return I received a new starter and none of my previous Pokémon were present. My Alakazam, Alekhine, returned to me earlier today.

[Yeah, yeah, you should be proud of him, asshole. Alekhine got so many Pop-Tarts for that.]

I imagine he's not the only Pokémon to return to his trainer, but it certainly does show devotion I wasn't sure he had.

[Oh please, the things he's done for you, man...]

Tell me a bit about your Pokémon. I'm interested in hearing about other Alakazams and how they act. Sometimes I'm not sure if there's something wrong with mine...

[Alekhine rolls his eyes dramatically again. Oh please...]

I am Team Rocket Beta Frank Archer. From what I understand there are quite a few new recruits here. I would like to speak with you, particularly those of you with rare Pokémon. Before I was sent home, I used to run a breeding service; I intend to start that up again, but unfortunately, I've lost the majority of my Pokémon. I can breed the Pokémon myself, all I need is to borrow it for a short time. I will keep one egg and any others will be given to you to sell or hatch.

If you're interested in assisting with the egg sales in the future, I will compensate you. Unfortunately my funds are limited at the moment so I won't be able to pay you for your help at this time.

Elsewhere in the city, Archer is out shopping with Alekhine. The Pokémon is keeping pace with his trainer, though he occasionally sends directions to the hopelessly lost Porygon-Z. Interfere?]

Thank goodness she's got Nate the Poochyena close at hand to (at least in theory, as far as she knows) ward off any psychic attempts at mind-reading or other such funny business. Otherwise this wouldn't even be a conversation at all.

So which Pokemon are rare ones?

[Well, that's quite wise of you! Especially considering everything he's been researching...]

The ones I'm looking for are the ones that don't appear as often in the wild. There are quite a few that were given out as eggs that are rarer; in particular I'm looking for the "fossil" Pokémon, since I don't believe they can be encountered in the wild.

[PARANOIA HAS ITS USES.]

Indeed. Though considering I haven't heard of it before now, it must be incredibly rare.

[The breeding center probably doesn't even have one!]

What if it doesn't want to breed, though?

I've never encountered that problem.

[...No seriously, he's been ridiculously lucky when it comes to getting his Pokémon to breed.]

I suppose I would have to discuss it with the trainer, in that case. I imagine a Pokémon who is particularly close to its trainer will listen to the trainer's commands.

Or you could just ask the Pokemon. That'd be faster, right?

Well yes, of course, but I doubt it would be interested in assisting a perfect stranger.

Probably. Which ones do you have already? On your roster.

Of the fossils? None at the moment, unfortunately. I'm particularly interested in raising an Aerodactyl, but Archen sounds interesting as well.

My starters are Pawniard and Zubat, though I also have an Alakazam. That is unfortunately the extent of my team at the moment.

And you're a Beta? Shouldn't they be giving you special treatment or something?

I had plenty of other Pokémon before I returned home; unfortunately I haven't found any of the ones that I had before, apart from my Alakazam.

Yeah, but come on, that's how they treat their officers around here? You just got back and they're not gonna give you free Pokemon or special perks or anything?

It is a shame, isn't it? One would imagine they would treat their higher-ups better.
